Lament, what does it do?

Thought I’d take on the challenge of preaching the text in Lamentations 3:23-33 this Sunday. I came across a really helpful paper by Walter Brueggemann, The Costly Loss of Lament, which reflected on what we have lost in our modern culture, in losing the prayer or song of lament.

Big Art in St Helens

Channel 4 are currently following the progress of some big art projects around the UK. The Dream in St Helens is a stunning addition to our landscape, even if not everybody sees it that way! The sculpture by artist Jaume Plensa, is situated on the site of the former Sutton Manor Colliery in St Helens.

How to find the best bible commentary?

It would be easy to fill your book shelves with bible commentaries. I have recently had a bit of a cull on my shelves, making use of the Amazon Marketplace to lighten the load from commentaries I have never even opened.  While trying to find a better commentary on Mark’s gospel, I came across BestCommentaries.com.
