Just happened to be passing through Trafalgar Square yesterday, and came across a crowd witnessing the unveiling of the Nelson’s Big Ship in a Bottle.

They may think that I have completely lost the plot this Sunday if I show a clip from Cloudy with a chance of meat balls in church.  Hamburgers dropping from the sky or a net bursting, haul of fish – what’s the difference?

Thought I’d take on the challenge of preaching the text in Lamentations 3:23-33 this Sunday. I came across a really helpful paper by Walter Brueggemann, The Costly Loss of Lament, which reflected on what we have lost in our modern culture, in losing the prayer or song of lament.

Channel 4 are currently following the progress of some big art projects around the UK. The Dream in St Helens is a stunning addition to our landscape, even if not everybody sees it that way! The sculpture by artist Jaume Plensa, is situated on the site of the former Sutton Manor Colliery in St Helens.

Just back from hanging out with Baptists in Bournemouth at our annual Assembly. It is now customary and obligatory to blog about the experience, pointing out what was funny and what was profound.

It would be easy to fill your book shelves with bible commentaries. I have recently had a bit of a cull on my shelves, making use of the Amazon Marketplace to lighten the load from commentaries I have never even opened.  While trying to find a better commentary on Mark’s gospel, I came across BestCommentaries.com.
