I came across Angelhouse Media, while looking for illustrations for Jesus’ teaching on prayer in Luke 11. And particularly that story Jesus tells about the man who goes to a friend at midnight and asks for bread to feed unexpected guests. The question is “Is God bothered?”. I think what the story and the Lord’s Prayer suggests is that prayer begins with praying for what bothers you because God isbothered.
So here is a great video from Angle House’s Sharable Parables series entitled Knock. It is a modern re-telling of the story, though it is understanding Jesus’ hearers context and Jewish hospitality laws that is the key to this parable.
We did use this in church, but my only criticism would be that much of the film is very dark. The story is about a man at midnight! But for playing on a screen in daylight, whatever projector you have, it could do with brightening up with more contrast in scenes. One puzzling feature for the observant is the British narration, American acting and French road signs!
