Create your own font – how cool is that!

Feb 3rd, 2009 by Tim 1

This probably sits under the random and highly trivial category of blog posts, but I couldn’t believe how easy it was to create my very own personal font.

There are probably hundreds of uses for custom fonts. You could make your own biblical language fonts and blow people away with your Hebrew and Greek. You could create a new wingdings thingy font to decorate your correspondance with, or maybe a Christian symbols font. In just a few minutes you could end up with something like this:

Visit YourFonts.com. Oh, and its is free!

But since lifehacker alerted the world to its presence, it has crumbled under the heat of interest:
Busy

While you wait, you could try:

  • FontStruct – not nearly as cool, because you can’t just use your pen, but at least their server isn’t dead yet.
  • FontForge – an Open Source font creator, but I can’t be bothered to go through the pain of installing it.
  • BitFontMaker – another online tool.
  • Scanahand – If you can’t wait and are flush with some cash.
