What happens when you die?
Tom Wright makes the news in the US for his views on Heaven and the new creation. Much of this is unpacked in his recent book Surprised by Hope, which I’ve just started reading, but I came across this interview with the Bishop on ABC News. There is even a bit of a dig at the Left Behind series.
Heaven is important, but it is not our final destination.
You can watch the interview on YouTube or on ABC here.
For some reason YouTube has disabled embedding for this one!
I must admit I’m a big fan of N T Wright. His books are clear and rooted in great biblical scholarship. I haven’t finished Surprised by Hope yet, but it is a refreshing antidote to the disspensationalism of the Left Behind mob. It isn’t that Wright doesn’t believe in Heaven, as some seem to suggest he is saying, but that our final destination is a renewed creation.

I’d love to read that book myself if my computer technician salary allowed it, but I’ve heard/read a similar message by the bishop at the Calvin Institute website.
