Poll: Did PowerPoint help or hinder the sermon in church last Sunday?

I say PowerPoint, but of course you’d be better off with Impress. But if the preacher used pictures and words on a screen to get his point across, did it help? This week’s poll.

Death by screenI’ve been to churches where it has been death by PowerPoint. Screens filled with words. I remember one occasion preaching in a kind of narrative style (an experiment) at a church that insisted on having the text you were preaching from displayed on the screen. All my story-telling couldn’t avert their eyes from the words on screen, and my embellishments to the story were clearly frowned upon – because they weren’t on the screen!

Personally, a couple of high impact photos/images with just one or two words is enough to just leave people with a visual aid to go home with in their mind.
